The General Manager, Prince of Wales Hospital and Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospital (POWH & SSEH) provides experienced senior executive health leadership within the highly complex health system of South East Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD). The District covers nine Local Government Areas, including Sydney CBD and provides healthcare services to a culturally diverse population of over 930,000 people, with a budget of $2b and 10,000FTE.
Reporting to the Chief Executive of SESLHD, you provide capable leadership and management to strategic and business planning, policy development, business and clinical service strategies, diverse stakeholder and relationship management. Preferably, you will be an experienced health services executive, with highly developed strategic and analytical skills, as well as the financial and business acumen, to autonomously manage a complex hospital group, consisting of a budget in excess of $426M and approximately 3090 staff. As a member of the executive leadership team you take a system-wide approach to strategic health service planning and development.
The General Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the POWH, a 440-bed major public teaching hospital based in Randwick, in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, and affiliated with the University of NSW. In addition, the SSEH has a long history, having been located on Macquarie Street in Sydney since 1811, with a legacy of nursing and medical firsts to its credit. The General Manager will be required to provide critical leadership to the development of new and redesigned services and to major redevelopment work underway for the Randwick Campus Redevelopment Hospital, which is due for completion in 2022.
To be a strong contender for this position, you will demonstrate experience with building people capability and knowledge in a major tertiary hospital or health service to improve performance and whole of system improvement, and to enhance workplace culture, as well as extensive executive management experience and proven track record of achievement in leading a large Health Organisation operating in a complex service delivery environment.
