The District Health Board (DHB) funds and provides public health services for our communitywith approximately 2,900 staff. Mental health services of the DHB are centred around two large community teams, with a kaupapa Maori mental health service provided by an NGO partner and satellite teams in the smaller population centres.
The Department of Psychiatry at Hawke’s Bay Hospital needs a new Consultant Psychiatrist in General Adult with expertise in Addiction Psychiatry.
This position will give you the opportunity to work with an outstanding, passionate team to focus on patient centred care and drive the future development of the service.
Reporting to the Medical Head of Department (Mental health), HBDHB, the Consultant Psychiatrist will provide specialist addictions assessment and treatment for people with severe addiction issues. Approximately 40% of the role will focus on addiction psychiatry and 40% on OST programme. The Consultant Psychiatrist will also provide senior medical leadership to the development of Te Ara Manapou (20%), a newly funded service that engages pregnant women and mothers with addictions issues in treatment services to reduce harm to their children and families, and act as lead clinician for the Hawke’s Bay Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST) Team.
