The South Australian Government has implemented reform to the governance of the South Australian public health system that resulted in the introduction of Local Health Network Governing Boards from 1 July 2019.
Expressions of interest are now sought for members with experience in Aboriginal Health to fill current and future vacancies for the 10 Governing Boards which cover metropolitan and regional South Australia.
Governing Board members are positions of significant strategic leadership and responsibility in the health system.The Health Care Act 2008 requires that at least 1 member of a governing board must be a person who has expertise, knowledge, or experience in relation to Aboriginal Health.
Governing Board composition will include a mix of people with experience across different areas, including community engagement. Value will be placed on life experience, practical knowledge, and connections to the community. The South Australian Government will provide a dedicated development program for individuals in Governing Board member roles. Governing Board member remuneration is currently $35,379 per annum (metropolitan and state-wide boards) and $24,765 per annum (regional boards). Note: current SA Health staff members cannot be appointed to the Board of the LHN in which they work.
