Director of Support Services (H20_3544)

Albury Wodonga Health (AWH) was established on 1 July 2009 and is Australia’s only cross border health service. While classified as a Victorian regional health service, it is co-funded under an intergovernmental agreement between the respective Governments of New South Wales and Victoria.

Employing close to 2500 staff with an additional 300 volunteers, the combined team provides a broad range of hospital, primary and community based services from 17 sites to a growing population of 250,000 living in the north east of Victoria and southern parts of New South Wales.

Set in a spectacular natural landscape, with the twin cities of Albury and Wodonga nestled along the Murray River, the district enjoys strong population growth and a vibrant culture, making it a great place to live and work. It is conveniently located between Sydney and Melbourne with a 3-hour drive to Melbourne and 5-hour drive to Sydney or a quick flight from Albury Airport.

In response to the region’s growing population encouragingly AWH has recently received investment from Government that will enable it to further develop its emergency, mental health, maternity, and obstetrics services. In 2020, the service undertook a thorough organisational redesign with the overarching objective of improving the patient and carer experience by placing the patient at the centre of everything the service does.

The organisational redesign will enable the service to provide a strategic approach to access and flow across the whole organisation and ensure AWH is equipped for future growth. As part of the organisational redesign several leaderships positions have been created, one of which is the Director of Support Services. The Director of Support Services will provide leadership in the provision, review, and management of coordinated high quality support services including:

  • Food and Environmental
  • Patient Support
  • Diagnostic
  • Administrative

AWH are seeking applications from commercially savvy leaders capable of leading change initiatives that will result in improved efficiencies whilst raising the standard of service across the areas of accountability. To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate strong financial acumen, the ability to engage diverse stakeholder groups, and lead an effective and responsive workforce of 220+ employees. You will hold a track record of change and improvement projects that have had demonstrated impact.
