Armidale Rural Referral Hospital is a ninety-nine-bed facility providing a comprehensive range of services including acute medical and surgical services, obstetrics, paediatrics and a range of diagnostic and allied health services.A busy emergency department, a Level 3 Close Observation Unit, mental health unit and renal dialysis unit. The referral community of the area is 55,200. Adult Medical services include respiratory, cardiac, chemotherapy, renal and palliative care. Surgical services include general, orthopaedics, gynaecology, urology and ophthalmology. The hospital is a spacious, modern, and well-equipped with the most recent development opening in 2019. Tablelands Clinical School is part of the University of Newcastle and University of New England Joint Medical Program. Medical students undertake clinical placements and attend teaching at the clinical school which is exceptionally well resourced with simulation laboratories and tutorial rooms.
