The Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) is now seeking an experienced and resilient nursing professional leader as its District Deputy Director of Nursing to support the Executive Director of Nursing and Midwifery’s role across the region.
The Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) provides health services for the residents of the Illawarra Shoalhaven region, including the Wollongong, Kiama, Shellharbour and Shoalhaven Local Government Areas. ISLHD operates eight hospital sites in Wollongong, Port Kembla, Shellharbour, Shoalhaven, Berry, Coledale, Bulli, Milton Ulladulla and community health services operating from approximately 58 locations across the region.
Wollongong Hospital is the largest of Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District’s eight hospitals and is the region’s tertiary referral hospital, with the capacity to treat specialist and complex cases. Wollongong’s Emergency Department is one of the busiest in New South Wales with around 70,000 presentations each year. The Hospital is closely affiliated with the University of Wollongong and the Illawarra Health and Medical Research Institute. An academic suite located at Wollongong Hospital supports both the Graduate School of Medicine and School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University.
ISLHD is one of the region’s largest employers with a workforce of more than 7,300 staff.
The successful candidate will be an active, outcomes-focussed member of the Nursing Leadership team, with the ability to contribute to organisation-wide, effective and timely strategic change and agreed financial targets.
This position is available immediately for up to 12 months. The District Deputy Director of Nursing will be registered as a General Nurse with the Nursing & Midwiferey Board of Australia and hold a current Annual Practising Certificate.
