Canberra Health Services (CHS), based in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), is seeking to appoint an inspirational, resilient, outcome-focused leader as the new Director, Allied Health, for the Medical Imaging Unit, to lead and manage its multidisciplinary team.

Reporting to the Clinical Director of Medical Imaging, the Director, Allied Health, will contribute to the strategic leadership of the Medical Imaging Unit, ensuring a high level of radiography and technical capability, now and into the future.

The Director, Allied Health holds responsibility for the technical operations of all modalities, including budgets, people management, procurement, safety, and business planning ensuring a safe and high-quality service, and ongoing compliance with accreditation and other standards.

This role will support the expansion of imaging services to align with the Canberra Health Service strategic plan, and promote a reputation for imaging and service excellence, innovation, and people development. The new Director, Allied Health will take a lead role in the establishment of the Weston Creek satellite imaging service which is scheduled to become operational in 2023.

The Director, Allied Health will possess strong communication skills to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including clinicians, suppliers, and professional peak bodies.

Knowledge of the Australian imaging sector will be essential, combined with a commercial approach and an understanding of funding and regulatory requirements. The incoming Director will demonstrate prior experience in an Imaging leadership position, demonstrating a strong commitment to governance and compliance.

Key to success in the position will be a collaborative approach, positive mindset, and prior knowledge of the public sector. The appointee will be a values-based individual who will work proactively with the senior

leadership team to build a sound future for public imaging services in the ACT, and a strong workplace culture within Canberra Health Services.

A tertiary qualification in medical radiation/sonography or related discipline is essential and eligibility for registration with AHPRA. A minimum of 5 years’ experience working professionally in Medical Imaging is preferred.
