Western NSW Local Health District (WNSW LHD) serves 280,000 people dispersed across more than 31% of NSW, a region larger than the UK, where people experience health issues that need our leadership, determination and compassion to make a meaningful difference. WNSW LHD services are the heart of country towns and are provided from 38 inpatient facilities, 50 primary and community health services and 23 community mental health services. A highly skilled and dedicated workforce workforce of approximately 6,500 people who are committed to improving health and well-being for rural people, making meaningful gains in Aboriginal health and providing world class integrated health care across the region.
The LHD is committed to reform initiatives that will improve access to services, and to providing services that people trust and feel safe using. These reforms have included the expansion of ‘The Integrated Care Strategy’ and the roll-out of telehealth infrastructure and telehealth models of care, supported by a strong commitment to improving the safety and quality of services and lifting performance to within the top ten percent of comparable health organisations.
Executive Director, Operations: To assist us in achieving our goals, WSNSW LHD are seeking to appoint a dynamic strategic leader to ensure system wide collaboration across our primary, secondary and tertiary services, other government and private service providers. This position will need to play a strong leadership role in improving the performance of the health system in the region to improve health outcomes in the region and achieve our goals.
Personal Attributes: The Executive Director Operations will not only lead and support the Senior Executive of the LHD but will also inspire and encourage staff at all levels across our organisation and stakeholders and colleagues across the community. They will have excellent communication skills and credibility and will act with integrity in all aspects of what they say and do. They will display resilience and courage in resolving demanding situations while at the same time being respectful of and empathetic towards those they interact with. Above all, they will lead collaboratively, supporting the culture of respect and understanding that we have developed across the LHD and across the communities of Western NSW. They will lead from a strong desire to ensure high quality services are provided to our patients and their families and friends.
