THE OPPORTUNITY

Queensland Health is seeking an exceptional leader for the role of Deputy Director-General, Healthcare Purchasing and System Performance. This is a unique opportunity to influence healthcare delivery across the state, overseeing an annual budget exceeding $15 billion and leading strategic purchasing and performance management initiatives to optimise health outcomes for all Queenslanders.

THE ROLE

Reporting directly to the Director-General, the Deputy Director-General will drive the healthcare purchasing agenda, ensuring alignment with the Department’s strategic objectives. This role is responsible for:

Establishing and managing service agreements with Hospital and Health Services (HHSs) and other providers.
Overseeing performance management frameworks to enhance service delivery.
Driving innovation in healthcare purchasing models to maximise value and improve system efficiency.
Representing Queensland Health at national and state levels in funding and performance discussions.
Leading a division that serves as the primary conduit between the Department and HHSs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic leadership in healthcare purchasing and system performance.
Negotiation and management of service agreements with HHSs.
Implementation of data-driven performance improvement strategies.
Management of funding models to align with healthcare priorities.
Collaboration with stakeholders to drive system-wide improvements.
