THE OPPORTUNITY

At Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSWLHD), we are dedicated to becoming Australia’s leading regional health district. Lismore Base Hospital serves as a key regional referral hospital, providing a comprehensive range of health services, including a state-of-the-art Operating Theatre Suite, Intensive Care/Cardiac Care Unit, Women’s and Paediatric Care Units, Emergency Department, and more. With a mission to deliver high-quality healthcare across a range of services, including hospitals, primary care, mental health, and community health programs.

We are seeking a Director of Medical Services (DMS) to play a pivotal role in our clinical leadership team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a visionary leader to drive innovation and implement best practices in medical administration across our district. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary partners to foster success and transform healthcare delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of medical services in line with NNSWLHD standards.
Lead and support the medical workforce at Lismore Base Hospital, focusing on continuous quality improvement and best clinical practices.
Oversee clinical governance, risk management, morbidity and mortality reviews, and adherence to NSQHS Standards and HETI guidelines.

We are looking for a candidate who:

Has extensive experience as a DMS with a proven track record in enhancing healthcare and leading transformational change within large, complex organisations.
Promotes a values-based, culturally safe, and person-centred healthcare service while driving strategic innovation and practical solutions.
Fosters excellence in healthcare delivery, cultivating cohesive and contemporary services at Lismore Base Hospital and within the community.
