HardyGroup has the great privilege of once again leading the search for Te Tumu Whakarae mō te Hauora | Director-General of Health and Chief Executive, Manatū Hauora | Ministry of Health on behalf of Te Kawa Mataaho | Public Service Commission.
The Manatū Hauora | Ministry of Health (The Ministry) is the chief steward and kaitiaki for the New Zealand health system. As part of the health system transformation, the Ministry’s role is being refocused on strategy, policy, regulation, and monitoring the outcomes which are achieved by the system as a whole.
As the chief steward for the health system the Ministry will continue to set the strategic direction and develop national policy, and it will be responsible for regulation and monitoring to make sure the heath system is delivering the best possible health services to New Zealanders. The aim is to ensure our health system delivers for all New Zealanders and this requires a deliberate focus on achieving more equitable outcomes for Māori.
To achieve this, we are looking for a highly experienced senior leader to develop the Ministry to deliver its new role and embed its new operating model. The Director-General of Health will be responsible for leading and managing the delivery of multiple functions within a public service organisation, including strategy, policy, regulation and monitoring through the appropriate leadership structures.
The role of the Director-General of Health requires a collaborative and credible leader to provide active stewardship and leadership across the health system and work collectively with strategic partners and stakeholders. They will advise the Government on the best steps to take to maintain an effective regulatory environment and the national policy settings needed to support the delivery of the highest quality health and disability services for New Zealanders.
